The South Beach Smoke Deluxe E Cig is built on one of the two most popular ‘standards’ known as the U9/V9 (sometimes mistakenly called the KR808D-2…. the other most popular standard is the KR808d-1). All of those things are awesome, no doubt, but what really caught me off guard and pushed my excitement about the model of over the edge from good to downright great is the addition of a ‘Manual’ switch battery! For anyone who has used manual e cig batteries in the past – you will know the improved vapor and connection you feel with the e-cig in your hand. You can control the pre-heat and enjoy a perfect inhale. The absence of the option was one of the other things that has always nudged me towards preferring kr808d-1 based e-cigs, but now South Beach Smoke is truly delivering the full experience and then some with the revamped DELUXE.

South Beach Smoke Review, Revisited…
An E Cigarette Brand Advancing and Progressing…
(What we like to see but don’t often enough)
I’ll get to my experience with the battery in a sec as it certainly is the core of what makes the new offering so attractive (it was the only improvement I had first heard about when i decided to investigate further), but as I was lollygagging through their official South Beach site to find out the details and see the new design, I actually found that South Beach has been making improvements beyond just that! I would say the new SuperMax battery, as phenomenal as it is (and it is the best you are going to find in any e cig close to this size now) – that would be enough reason to get excited however after checking out what else is new i would venture to say is only about 50% of what makes South Beach Smoke our new top recommended choice starter kit (and I am specifically talking about the DELUXE model here as it is the one that has been overhauled and to my delight complimented with some essential new accessories too).
I got my original South Beach Smoke Deluxe Starter Kit long ago, so I didn’t notice right away, that they recently lowered the price of their market-leading Deluxe Starter Kit to $59.99, and on top of that now offer their simplistic Premium Starter Kit for a true bargain at $29.99. The most exciting place where prices have dropped though is in the ongoing price of refill carts whichever model you elect for (pssst, get the deluxe! thank me later) – but the slightly controversial “Home Delivery Program” that South Beach Smoke offers to its customers as a convenient way to make sure to always have stock of enough refills with monthly shipments has itself improved too, in the form of lower monthly refill costs period. You absolutely DO NOT have to sign up for the program but the convenience of it combined with the price savings on the always rich and flavorful, very satisfying South Beach Smoke Cartomizers – which have had a few minor tweaks to their design as well (check out the new cartomizer tip a little later).
The introduction of a PCC (Portable Charging Case) is a HUGE plus and having seen and used many types I can say the new South Beach Smoke Portable Charging Case is a fantastic one too. You’ll never have to face running out of charge again with this thing, its a must-have for those on the go.
Okay now back to the big news: that industry-changing battery of theirs! As it turns out, South Beach Smoke is offering the SuperMax batteries in each of their three Deluxe Starter Kits: the standard Deluxe, the Deluxe Plus and the Deluxe Ultimate. Any smoker that starts up with a South Beach Smoke Deluxe Starter Kit will get a chance to experience it right off the bat. After looking through those beautiful kits they offer, I was able to find the individual batteries in the accessory section of their site, priced at $24.99 for the Standard and $29.99 for the High-Capacity version.
My Love Affair with the South Beach Smoke Deluxe’s NEW SuperMax Battery…
I will admit that I was probably a little too excited to see if this battery was for real; I actually had trouble waiting for the initial charge to finally finish! It was worth the wait. Even the standard sized version, which is really a small battery, was able to last me hours and hundreds of puffs; I’ll go out on a limb and said that I definitely eclipsed the 300 puff mark on one charge. But that doesn’t even compare to the apparently infinite lifespan of the high-capacity SuperMax battery. This thing lasted me so long that I actually felt guilty for not having to recharge after the first day; a ritual that I’ve gotten so used to over my e-smoking years. I must have gotten at least 600 full-bodied hits of vapor out of that one charge; I went out dancing one night and I didn’t even have to use the spare that I brought out with me. It…just…keeps…going. I can personally attest that the hype surrounding their new technology is definitely deserved.
But wait there’s more! The SuperMax battery offers the option of automatic or manual switches that is so rare in similar devices these days. Now beginning smokers can not have to worry about manual switches and veteran smokers can use them to get nice, big throat hits. I also really liked how they offered two color choices; black and white. These are really all you need, and having that option is definitely important to this reviewer. Finally they also added this really cool looking crystal tip that flares up in brilliant orange glow as you puff on the e-cig, a little change that adds something cool to the experience.

New South Beach Smoke Cartomizers: One Last New Benefit and Tip (For Those Who Are Inclined To Try Refilling Their Cartomizers)
Here is a little “hack” you can think of it as… not endorsed by South Beach Smoke I’m sure but certainly possible. In the past, South Beach Smoke Cartomizers had a ‘hard plastic’ top cap. This has been swapped for a new rubber soft seal which is promoted as being nicer in the mouth, which it is… but that is overlooking one substantial benefit of the change – It is now relatively simple to refill your south beach smoke cartomizers with e liquid of your choice (I recommend Smart Vaper’s Premium American Made Smart E Liquid but you can use any you like). I will upload a simple guide but using a paperclip you can easily remove the rubbery cartomizer cap, holding it at about a 45 degree angle you can drop about 10-15 drops slowly into the absorbent filler. I have personally tried a number of my favorite E Liquids and they have all performed great with the new south beach smoke kit this way.
Keep in mind cartomizers are designed to be disposable, and as a rule of thumb you should toss it after 3-4 refills if you do decide to try this as you will start to notice a degrading of vapor quality after about that much use. Also be sure not to overfill with e liquid, you especially dont want to get any into your automatic battery – always refill while cartomizer is detached from the battery. I recommend you completely use up one of your SBS Cartomizers before attempting this and then refill with you own “e juice” – for best flavor use a cartomizer most closely matching the type of flavor you are refilling with. Luckily south beach smoke offer a good flavor selection making that easy.
** note: I am not sure, but due to the possibility of getting e liquid into the automatic battery, this refill trick should be done carefully (if at all) and if not done right “could” potential harm an automatic (though not manual!) battery, and wouldn’t be covered under South Beach Smoke’s limited warranty.
South Beach Smoke Review 2012 – Concluding Thoughts
There’s no doubt about it, with the addition of this impressive new battery and their competitive price cuts, South Beach Smoke really stands as the industry leader right about now – the company has fully rounded out the best ecig offering with lower pricing, the choice of a traditional white or a classy black model, manual and automatic (your choice) state of the art ‘SuperMax’ e cigarette batteries – and though we wish they’d hold a charge forever – the next best thing is the protective and incredibly handy Deluxe Portable Charging Case (PCC) which I highly highly recommend picking up. South Beach Smoke is one of the few brands in the e-cigarette world that has been established for a while now and yet has shown their willingness and even enthusiasm to not let their product stagnate, to continue to innovate and set the pace for everyone else, while other big name e-cigarette brands too often have outdated technology not living up to what is possible today.
The NEW South Beach Smoke Deluxe E Cig Starter Kits, Cartomizers and in particular the new SuperMax Battery is the best vaping experience you will find in a “mini” E-Cig – (ie. one that is about the size of a regular cigarette). If you want serious vapor production and a satisfying throat hit you will be impressed, particularly with the new Manual Switch South Beach Smoke Battery which is capable of much more of each than I have previously encountered in anything other than a much bigger “mini-mod” (aka Joye EGO) or high voltage device (even bigger mod).
I highly recommend you purchase at least one manual battery whether or not you have used one before as you undoubtedly will grow to prefer it very quickly.
If you have tried Green Smoke or Blu Cigs, Luci or one of the other big name brands – even South Beach Smoke themselves until now – and are looking for a more satisfying ‘vaping’ experience, the New South Beach Smoke model will deliver.
